Help please - here now and dd has chipped her tooth

Dd has just managed to chip her front tooth on the bottom of the pool 😞

It’s taken a large piece off the corner and left quite a sharp edge.

We’re not home until 3rd September and I don’t know if this is something we need to get looked at before we go home or not.

There’s no bleeding and she says there’s no pain. It is an adult tooth.

I can phone our dentist tomorrow to make an appointment for when we’re home but I’m not sure after reading online if I should get it looked at here.

Anybody have any advice on chipped teeth?

Oh dear,no advice on chipped tooth but advice on extortionate dental bills in USA. My advice (and our dentists on returning home) unless it's very urgent and an emergency wait till you get home. If she's not in any pain and no bleeding it will feel strange for a few days but she'll get used to it. Dh had an infected wisdom tooth in NYC a few years ago and it cost $1500 for a scale, polish and antibiotic prescription,+ $25 for the medication. Luckily we have 5* travel insurance which covered us. If it becomes an issue while your there check your covered first as I've a feeling treatment for that would run into several thousand $$$$.

I would check - in case you need to do something while over there, with your insurers. It could become painful as time goes by and need attention. At least you'll know where you stand and hopefully can relax a bit.

1of our hockey players did this on the 1st day of a training camp and the dentist advised him to just apply toothpaste directly to the tooth.

It was definitely a noticeable piece missing, but applying the paste kept him pain free for the remaining 4 days of the camp and the weekend until he could see his own dentist.

Regular dentist also advised against any further treatment.
Hope it's that straightforward for you as dental treatment in the US can be eyewateringly expensive!

I chipped my tooth on our January visit - bit down on a fork 😔 only a small chip and not too noticeable I didn't think - but when I got back and went to the dentist, he sent me away and said there was nothing he could do anyway! I just kept brushing my teeth too using sensodyne just to keep it protected a little. Hope it is all ok!

I think you're right, phone your own dentist tomorrow. You could also send a photo, they'll know the best course of action.
Good to hear it's not causing your DD discomfort, sorry it's happened though.

I chipped my front tooth on New Years Eve last year at home. Managed to see an emergency dentist within 2 days and then had a further 10 day wait for it to be sorted. I wasn’t in any pain but looked like a hillbilly so was mortified that they couldn’t do it sooner! So I can’t see there being an issue waiting but best to call for advice.

DS19 did this last summer while on holiday🙄
Very noticeable chip out of his front tooth. I called the dentist and got an appointment for his return 10 days later. It was brilliantly patched up.

My daughter chipped her front tooth recently, it was very noticeable but the dentist did an amazing job repairing it. I would wait until you have spoken to your dentist.

As others have said, unless in pain I would leave it.
DS10 has a significantly shorter adult tooth because he’s managed to smash it not once but twice. 🙄 Our dentist didn’t even see him for nearly a week as it wasn’t considered an emergency. They put a false bit on the bottom but to be honest it ended up being a waste of time as it kept falling off. The last time we went, they said they wouldn’t do it again as it’s cosmetic and the NHS can’t continue to pay for it. To be honest, it looks better without it. When he’s older and his teeth are fully grown, the dentist said they can cap it properly.
