ESTA Question re employment?
I'm doing my parents ESTAS for next years trip, they are both retired (approaching 70) and have been for a good while. In the employment section it asks if you have a current or previous employer... they obviously have no current employer and their previous employers would have been over 5 years ago... do I need to put the previous employer? Never had to think of this before?

That’s what we did too, as we are both retired. We just put our last jobs.

Thank you! My dad was self employed for a while, but as a subcontractor, does that mean I put the sub contractor down or his details? Sorry for the questions, i'm so confused!

It doesn't actually matter - they don't check it anywhere. Put down whatever your dad would answer if they asked him his job / last job.

They may not check it but be prepared to answer questions at immigration based on what you have put on the esta. In October this year the immigration officer asked me how I liked retirement and what job did I do when I worked for the railways.

My boyfriend got asked at immigration what he did for work and when he answered lift engineer the officer said correct, stamped his passport and off you go sir. So they may well be asked at that stage.

Isn’t that what I said? I wasn’t suggesting the OP lied just trying to explain that it is only relevant to the questions that may be asked on arrival...

One of our party was selected for secondary screening at Orlando airport and his occupation was checked and his mobile phone and tablet were examined by immigration. They spent ages checking
which web sites he. Had visited Photos were checked, all told he was with security for over 2 hours He had not completed the optional ESTA question re social media accounts and was asked why he had not completed it Edited at 01:03 AM. Reason: Spelling |
