We stayed in Eden Roc Hotel August 2021, it was just beautiful and we’ve fallen in love with Rhodes. It was located in Kalitha, which is a 10 min drive into Rhodes town (must see). We stayed Al, I’m vegan and I tend to try and do all my homework in advance, even emailing the hotel to make sure I can be accommodated. And not just chips and salad! In your case, I’d do the same. Once you have a short list of hotels you like (if you decide to go AI) email the hotel in advance. Ask for sample menus.

We’ve booked Akti Imperial in Ixia for next May. Again, just outside Rhodes town, but on the other side of the island.

We just came back from Eden Roc and the chef actually came out whilst we having breakfast as there was a child of about 8 who had allergies and was very helpful with the parents to make sure anything he cooked for her was suitable . To the above poster I was also at Eden Roc August 2021

Can't comment on GF options, but as for excursions. We managed to do almost everything using the local bus, good reliable service. Rhodes town is lovely, cute little aquarium - good to get out of the heat for an hour. An evening visit is a must, the market and main street is all lit up. Prasonisi was a lovely trip, its the left end of the island, used for surfing and kite boarding, lovely walk to the lighthouse. Lindos is also lovely with its sugar cube houses and quaint car free streets. We had a nice time at the waterpark in Faliraki, which was surprisingly quiet.
We booked a trip to the valley of the butterflies which was stunning
