NCL and Amex Credit Offer

For anyone that has an Amex card, check your offers. On my gold card (and my husband's supp card) there was an offer for spend £500, get £100 statement credit. The details say when used online.

However, it turns out when booking with NCL you can pay the deposit (which is currently £50 each) or pay in full. No in between. This is the same after you've booked and you log into the booking, no option to make a partial payment.

Thought we had nothing to lose by making a partial payment of £500 over the phone to see if it worked. It did - had an email from Amex almost instantly to say the offer had been used.

Will do the same with the other card, so that will be a nice £200 off the cruise (which was actually very reasonable anyway).

Just got to hope Brazil starts letting cruise ships in by December, as they're currently banned, and our cruise ends in Rio!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I would never have spotted it and I need to pay my NCL cruise balance anyway.

No problem! I'm just waiting for the £100 to be credited back to my card, as I phoned the other day to make the £500 payment. Very glad to get a discount off my cruise!

Where are you off to on your cruise?

Yes I did, on both cards.

And even better, I've got the offer again on my cards, so will be making use of it again! Am very happy, should mean by using it again we'll have had a total of £400 back from Amex.

Just checked my Amex and there's a £150 back off a £1000 spend with Celebrity Cruises (expires 25/08).

This is in addition to the spend £500 get £100 back with NCL (expires 27/09)

I only learnt today (via another cruise related forum!) that you can make partial payments via the app. For some reason it says it's in dollars, but it isn't (already showing the £500 pending charge on my Amex). I had no idea!

Hopefully the credit will turn up in a few days like it did last time, but if not, I've taken a screenshot of the offer saved to my Amex card so can take it up with them.
