Scottish water repairs
Apologies, a random one!
DD lives in a tenement flat in Glasgow. The flats have a property management co that look after any repairs. Scottish water carried out a repair recently. They identified a leak from a mains supply pipe within the ground floor common area. They have repaired the leak and left the area "safe" with a landing board, however the costs to re-instate the concrete section is not part of their spec - so they say. The property management co (which all homeowners in her block pay monthly to) put it to the insurance co who have refused to cover the costs as there was no damage by water, and by which Scottish Water have confirmed no damage by the leak. So the property co are getting estimates from local builders to get this fixed, which will need to be paid for by DD and rest of tennants Anyone know anything about these matters? I would have thought if Scottish Water have found a leak in a mains pipe then they are responsible for any repairs. Its their pipe? |

Was the leak under the close? I'm pretty sure that would be classed as within the ownership of the block. It would be the same as a standalone house. The main is your responsibility once it is on your property even before the pipe reaches your stopcock.

Yes, it's inside the main front door, in the hallway. I also feel the buildings insurance co have managed to avoid paying as technically there was no damage. Next time there's a leak they should just leave it until there is damage so the insurance co have to pay out.
