Not sure about the weather, we are tied to school hols as DS is in GCSE years so keeping fingers crossed!
How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? DD will be 17 and going into year 13 and DS 15 going into year 11 next September so we usually go away last 2 weeks of August into September. Early summer hols is more difficult for me with work and other people booking that time off. DH want's to go back to Lanzarote, but we've done that so many times that I know we will just be bored after a few days!

I have booked from 19/7-2/8 for 2 adults and a 15 year old it was £6700, however we paid £309 for extra space seats and then approx £750 to upgrade to diamond club at the hotel, the total cost was £7727.

DS will miss the last 3 days of school but it was about £500 extra to fly 2 days later!

We’ve been at the end of July/beginning of August and had glorious weather with the odd short shower in the afternoon on the odd day, nothing that disrupted our holiday. We stayed at the hard rock hotel riviera maya which was fab. It is a taxi ride away from playa del carmen and we went a couple of times and had a wander round the shops and went to a couple of bars. There is not really a beach though at the hard rock, there’s a small sandy area with access to a lagoon which was fine for us. Plenty of pools though so no problems with soaking up a bit of sun.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! We decided to book 2 weeks in Croatia next summer as it's somewhere we've fancied for a while, and will save Mexico for another time when we dont have to go in August with unpredictable weather!
