Sorry, you cancelled a holiday because you couldn’t go, therefore no, you can’t now expect the company to refund you.
I cancelled mine for August because we made a decision not to go, regardless of wether the flights are going or not, I didn’t expect the airline to give me my deposit back.

No, I really dont think so. If you have cancelled already then this would be viewed as disinclination to travel as there is no current advise not to travel during October so normal cancellation policy would apply. As it stands at the moment you can still book to go in October

The advice I've seen is that if you want to have any hope of getting your deposit back you have to behave as if you expect to go, ie by continuing to pay the full balance. If they then cancel you will get a full refund.
But if you choose to cancel at any point before they cancel then that is your loss. It's a case of holding your nerve! If you've already cancelled then you have already ended your contract with them so they are no longer under any obligation to offer you a service/ refund. |

As Tigercub says to have any chance of recovering your money you must force the holiday company to break the contract. The advice I have read is that you pay your full balance (upholding your end of the contract) and when the holiday company cancel they must repay in full. If you cancel then you lose your deposit.
I am due to pay for my centerparcs break on Friday so have spend hours investigating the best course of action. |

I think as you have cancelled no. You will not be entitled to a refund as you made the decision to cancel.

Who knows if holidays will happen in October though?! Nobody can predict the future, so you cant possibly say it wouldn't have happened. Save your energy for a different fight...

Our July holiday balance is due in May. I’m thinking of cancelling as EasyJet are only giving vouchers when they cancel and I don’t want to leave my money with them for a year or more. I will lose my deposit, despite the fact there is a pandemic so flights are highly unlikely to go ahead in July. I accept this and move on, it’s not a battle I will win. However, I think the government should be stating no travel this summer and saying until at least the end of August so people with balances due now would know where they stand. The travel companies are going to get a lot of ‘free’ money in lost deposits and many people are losing their money due to the pandemic but can’t claim it back.
I know the travel industry is suffering but I don’t think it’s fair that the customer’s cash is being used as support for them But in your case op, you have cancelled very early so definitely wouldn’t know that flights won’t be going by then, so your deposit wouldn’t have been covered as no one’s deposit is being covered until balance is paid Edited at 09:00 AM. |

I am due to go to California in October and I have only paid a deposit. I am hopeful but realistic about my chances of going. I cant see how the company will refund you when you have already cancelled because the holiday may still have been able to go ahead. If they cancel you wold get your deposit back but if you cancel then its your choice especially when there has been no decisions made about the situation then.

As others have said, you either had to hold out until much nearer to the time (ours was 15 days before cancellation). As it looks like you have already cancelled unfortunately you won't be able to get a refund.
