I’m kicking myself now as I should’ve talked to her about this as moving doctors will create issues in the future as she’ll probably be more here than there and it can be difficult to swap back. 😡

One of the terms and conditions of my son's accomodation offer was that he had to register with the Campus Surgery while living there so they may unfortunately have no option. He only realised the night before so had to rummage around to find his nhs number and vaccanation records to fill out the online form as thought could stay registered locally.

You just ask to be seen as a temporary resident when back home.

My daughters diabetic clinic told us not to change doctors as it would then effect her diabetic appointments.

You do not have to change. My daughter has been advised against changing due to physio appointments etc being disrupted. Also when i did it was so difficult to change it back when i returned home.

Neither of our two changed doctors whilst in Uni. DS1 has so many health issues and is seen at multiple hospitals so we figured that would just complicate matters, he was only an hour away so not too far if he wasn’t well.
DS2 is generally fit and healthy so it wasn’t a problem, he did have to travel home for his Covid jabs but it was a good excuse for him to raid the fridge and cupboards 🙄

That’s good to know as she’s obvs going to be home for 3 months over the summer so does that mean she can go to our usual surgery then?

I’m hoping when she goes to the docs tomorrow they’ll reverse it but they’ve already sent a text telling her to register near her uni within 28 days. It does say on the text that she can come back to the surgery after uni though.

There’s a particular receptionist at our surgery that’s pretty spiky so it was unfortunate that she ended up speaking to her as most of the staff are lovely and probably wouldn’t have done it.

Dd20 was required to register with a local doc, when she went and has used them a few times. (Ingrown toenail, implant removal, bashed elbow...) it also meant she had her vaccine at uni through her local registration, so did not have to come home for her jabs.

Dd19 hasn't had any info as to whether she needs to have a local doc yet, she has just filled out her course registration today...

DS has now received his timetable. His lectures are online I assume in his room and are 3 hrs on a Mon morning. Then his seminars and group work are all in person. He isn't impressed with a seminar 5 to 6pm every Friday, was hoping he was free and could maybe come home then for a weekend. He has all day Weds off for sports and other activities. On Tues he doesn't start til 3pm. On the whole he and I are happy with the way it looks. We had hoped for a reading week around half term so he could come home but seems to be full on until Christmas.

Yes you can call your local practice and ask to be seen as a temporary resident when home.

I have a question about bank
accounts if anyone has any ideas?

Dd has a Santander current account which she can swap to a student account. Is it best she does that or open a totally new dedicated student account with say HSBC? She has all her savings in Santander so don’t want the finances to be mixed up.
