Mobile Child swap without Genie+

Does anyone know how this will work if you haven’t bought Genie+?

Still show up to ride (as a collective), with one parent queuing in standby and the other parent getting a LL loaded to ride another time?

I see they’ve said only one other person can join the second parent riding which is fair enough.

From what I've read, it seems Rider Switch works just as it did beforehand (and pretty much the same as it would for those who had bought Genie+). That is, it is as described on the Disney World website:

disneyworld/guest-.../rider-switch/

Once at an attraction, you approach the Cast Member with your entire party. At least one adult member of your party and the Guests who are not riding will be issued a Ride Switch entitlement by the Cast Member and asked to wait in a designated area (usually outside of the attraction). This group is “Party 2.”

The other party members (“Party 1”) enter the regular queue and ride the attraction.

After riding the attraction, Party 1 locates Party 2. Then, Party 1 takes over supervision of the non-riding children or Guests.

Party 2 enters and boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue a second time (i.e. they enter via the Lightning Lane). The Rider Switch entitlement must be validated by a Cast Member at this time.

As you mention, I believe Disney has now limited it so that those in Party 2 who want to ride are limited to 2 people - i.e. usually the adult who waited with the child and one other.

Ah brilliant that they have it on there! We’ll be needing that a fair few times!

Just thought I'd point out that Disney has apparently clamped down a little regarding those trying to use the Lightning Lane for both Party 1 and Party 2.

If Party 1 (the group riding first) wants to use the Lightning Lane rather than the regular queue then everyone in both Parties must have a Genie+ slot or Individual Lightning Lane Selection for the ride in question.

Not surprised given some people used to use the fast pass x 1 only to use it for both. We’ve never needed it before so had no need to use it. Shame we all have to be at the entrance as my hubby could have got there a lot quicker than all four of us, but understandable again
