What Benefits are there to be had staying onsite Disney & Universal
Hi
I stayed onsite in 2015 but I've heard since then a lot of benefits you don't get now, is this true. Does staying off site in August cause a big problem with getting on rides and meals. Thanks |

The Universal onsite benefits are the same as they ever were to the best of my knowledge. That is express pass and early opening for the three top hotels and just the early opening for the others.
The Disney onsite benefits are pretty limited at the moment. There is a half hour of early opening and some minor advantage to dining reservations (although availability looks sparse anyway). In October there will be some late park hours for deluxe hotel guests but the details are not released yet. I assume you are referring to next August though, impossible to say what onsite benefits will look like by then. All we can do is keep watching. |

Main thing with disney was early/late hours, further advance booking for fastpass and dining reservations, most of that has gone with the covid restrictions and Disney seem to be shaking up the benefits as well as potentially changing the fastpass system, so what will be in place August 2022 is likely to be quiet different to today.

The other major bonus if you don't take a car for Universal is the excellent Uni parks transportation service 🙂 it's so easy and frequent!

A France Pavillion Grey Goose lemon slushie is about a 5-minute walk away from the Beach Club.
You can't put a price on that benefit! 😂 |

As well as what other posters have mentioned, you now no longer get the Disney Express for free from the airport and you also have to pay for parking every night at your resort.
Its because of all these changes and less perks that we've opted to go for a villa this time rather than stay onsite at Disney. |

You're not going to lose much being offsite at Disney right now. There's not enough perks and those that remain have been reduced. Having said that, we don't know if they plan to introduce more perks back in. But it's unlikely in the short term, as resorts are still selling out without them.
This is the first trip where I'm seriously looking offsite. Although for me, it's not the reduced perks that are driving me offsite, but the price! They're getting far too expensive and while I could afford it, I have a limit on what I can justify paying for what they are. Playing with 2021 dummy bookings, I can currently get the Waldorf on a deal that's cheaper than a Disney value. That's insane. If the same happens for my 2022 dates, I won't hesitate to switch. Universal on the other hand, their value resorts are fairly competitively priced and as a non-driver, I would book these (or higher) for the park transport alone. Edited at 02:17 PM. |
