Really Struggling

It’s coming up to a year since my mum died, and I’m just so sad all the time
I can’t believe it’s almost a year, no chats, hearing her voice, telling her I love her, chatting about rubbish together
Oh gosh I miss her so much, I’d give everything up just to have her back, I was not ready to be without her
I know it’ll sound weird but I’ve started talking to her all the time, the things we would talk about, rubbish on the tv just anything and everything really
I’m not sure how I’m ever going to get over losing her we were so close

It is so hard when you lose a parent. My Dad passed away end of November last year and, like you with your Mom, I miss him terribly.

I talk to him every day, it does help. I don’t think you ever get over them being gone but as time passes it will make it more bearable.

Do you have family and friends to talk to. Also have you thought about bereavement counselling, it is something that I am going to look into.

Take care xx

I could’ve written this same post myself. I lost my mum last September. We had the best of relationships. She was my best friend we spent so much time together. I still can’t believe it.

I fully understand where you are coming from. 💜 I just have to try and remember that we were so lucky to have such an amazing relationship even though she was taken too soon, as I know not everyone can say that.

Take care.

Kat xx

It's been many years since I lost my grandmother who raised me. I still randomly get the impulse to call her to tell her something, happened 2 weeks ago when we had a bumpy flight home from Orlando. My first instinct was to call on arrival until I remembered that wasn't possible. 7 years and that keeps happeneing. I also talk to her, usually in my head, when I observe something that we would have had a right gossip/laugh about if she was there.

My experience is that the raw pain goes away and it becomes easier but you don't ever lose that desire to connect and they are always on your mind. It was only when I opened up to a few people that I realised this was very normal for people of all religious and cultural backgrounds and that the terms you hear thrown about like ''get over a loss'' , ''move on'' and ''come to terms'' are not literal and getting over a loss doesn't mean that you stop talking to them for example. That may well be what your coming to terms and moving on looks like.

Thanks for sharing your experience
It’s just so hard at the moment for sure

A few months ago I could have written this post. I lost my dad on 22nd December 2020, there is never a good time to lose someone but a few days before Christmas was awful and I think I went onto Autopilot mode. Then we had another lockdown and looking back it all went past in a complete haze.

I really struggled at the end of the year, coming up to the 1st anniversary, I know we are supposed to say "it doesn't get any easier" maybe I am wrong but I have felt a little better over the past few months. I think the situation we have been in with Covid and the fear of lockdowns and restrictions hasn't helped anyone that is grieving either.
