Covid Tests Before Flying Advice
We don’t fly until the 13th August. Is it advisable to book our Covid tests now? Or are the rules about testing before flying likely to change? This will be our first flight since the pandemic so we’re not very clued up.

I wouldn’t book yet. We fly on Monday and I booked ours last week and had lots of choice for appointments. I’d give it a bit longer if I were you.

The million dollar question…. Nobody knows. Unfortunately.
We’re flying 20th but I’m holding off booking any tests until the beginning of August. Would hope there’s plenty of availability, but will be keeping an eye on here for if any fellow August travellers notice availability issues.

Who knows what testing, if any, will be required in August?
I wouldn’t book anything until much nearer your departure. For our December flights, we booked around a week before with no issue. We had to fly to the USA in February at short notice (family funeral). We booked our flight & tests on Monday, tested Tuesday & flew Wednesday. I could choose whatever time I wanted for our tests. For our trip in April, I booked less than a week before. For our trip next week, we’ve decided to use recovery certificates having come down with covid 2 weeks ago. Edited at 07:58 AM. |

There is huge thread on here that answers any questions, it also has discount codes and cheaper ways of doing it. We bought the flowflex tests from boots... then booked 2 seperate consultations and 6 certificates (there are 6 of us) All in, it was £76! |

Thanks for this info…
I know they say no NHS kits but we have the same tests(Flowflex) as boots are selling that were given to us when normal NHS tests ere out of stock. I’ve emailed DocHQ to see if our kits are suitable. Fingers crossed, little saving possibly. |

If they say NHS on them at all you can’t use them. Even though they are exactly the same tests. If they don’t say NHS you should be fine.
