'Turbo charged' Atlantic hurricane season

news.sky/story/forecaste...exico-12621044

I knew my trip for Sept was too good to be true. Praying this doesn't happen 😢

“For the seventh year in a row NOAA has forecast an above-average hurricane season, with between 14 and 21 named storms, with 70% confidence.”

The last seven years haven’t been that bad at all have they? Personally, I wouldn’t worry about what 1 guy is predicting.

Oh is this the equivalent of the Daily Express and it's hottest summer/coldest winter headlines every year?

Only to be expected with climate change. But really a storm that severely impacts Orlando is unlikely.

Only a prediction. I predict it won't happen 😂 Were going in September also. Always hurricanes about at that time.

Not really. NOAA is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a US government agency consisting of hundreds of scientists running state-of-the-art forecast models. I don't know where the Daily Express get their predictions from but it's not the Met Office! NOAA are also predicting a below normal 2022 Pacific hurricane season, so they don't always predict above average.

The Atlantic hurricane season prediction is for 14-21 named storms, of which 6-10 might have winds strong enough to be classed as hurricanes. Not all hurricanes will necessarily make landfall and they won't all impact Florida. There's always a risk of booking to travel to Florida during hurricance season but the airport and parks are usually only closed for 1-2 days so it's still a fairly small risk.

We always follow Eric Burris on FB, his long range forecast is pretty accurate
