Flights book now or wait?
So we're booked for August 22 (after 2020 cancelled and 2021 cancelled) with Disney, but I still need to book the flights.
DH and I are double vaccinated, DD 13 will have her 1 jab next week, DS 8 too young for a jab. Still so much uncertainty about rules for 12-15 year olds when the borders reopen. Flights are so much more expensive (MAN-MCO) than last year or year before. I remember last year we rebooked during black Friday sale. Million dollar question, do I bite the bullet and book now, or hold out for a sale black Friday or Christmas 🤔 Just feel prices will surge upwards when the requirements are announced for travel to US. WWYD? |

FWIW, the last few sales have been much the same price as regular and on heavily restricted dates. So I wouldn't specifically wait for a sale, just keep checking prices and book as soon as you're happy with them.
If flying BA and your trip is fully within August, you could also use the flexible booking policy to cancel and rebook if you find better prices. You do get the cancellation in a voucher rather than a refund, but it can be used up until Sept 2023 so can use any remainder for another set of flights the following year. I did a cancel and rebook this week when my dates changed, whole process done online in a matter of minutes. Edited at 09:02 PM. |

I’m waiting for the sales even tho I don’t expect massive cuts. However I feel the prices for our dates are at a maximum now close to £900 and £1500 premium.
That’s for the beginning of July. I think they are hoping people will be desperate to pay anything on the back of the borders announcement. It’s a gamble but I’m not sure they will fill the plane everyday with plus £900 fares. |

I’ve just booked ours for August 2022 with virgin, I’ve paid exactly the same price as I did for my August 2021 flights.

We bit the bullet and booked for August 2022. Like you I am worried about a further surge in price which could mean we couldn’t afford it. I found flight prices through Expedia that we can live with (approx £500 more than we normally pay). We are 2 Ad fully vaccinated and 2 teens with 1 vaccine each just hoping for an announcement sooner rather than later on the entry requirements and opening date. So in answer to your question I say book now if you can find prices you are happy with 👍

I'm a massive cynic about these supposed flight sales.
It's not like a flight to Orlando has a known and published fixed price, and that is reduced during a sale period. Flight prices vary all the time, based on a huge number of factors, many of which we have no sight of. I'm almost certain that there will be people on any given flight who didn't buy in a sale, and paid less than someone did who paid a sale price. I think the tactic is to keep looking as often as you can, pounce when you see a price that you are happy with and never look again. Some people will pay less, some will pay more, but once you've committed there's not much you can do about that, so don't risk torturing yourself. (I've been to Florida and taken other holidays something like 25-30 times and never knowingly bought a flight in a sale) |

...just to add if you find a BA price that is palatable, select a single night hotel with it to turn it into a package, pay a minimal deposit and retain some flexibility with regard to cancellation and only taking a small hit.

I've just done exactly that tonight Had to do it as a custom trip though as adding on the hotel as an extra after finding flights didn't work.
