Would you go solo to the theatre?

Seeing the Lion King a couple of weeks ago has reignited my love for the theatre and live performances. I’ve been having a look at upcoming shows and there is quite a few I’d love to see, but getting someone to go with me is tough. I don’t have a close circle of friends, and to be fair with the costs it is a big ask, and not everyone likes the theatre anyway. I went with my colleagues to The Lion King and it was fab being part of a group and we will be looking at doing it again but probably closer to Christmas. And I can’t wait that long! Has anyone ever gone on their own to a show or concert? What was it like? I thought the interval might be awkward but then again I spent the majority of time at the Lion King one on my own as I was queuing for the loo!

Yes, I went last week to see Cinderella, and am hoping to get rush tickets for something tomorrow.
I have a new job where I will have to be in London much more, and I am quite used to pottering about doing things by myself (despite being happily married)
No one bats an eye

When DD worked shifts in London she used to go to the afternoon matinees on her own. Cheaper tickets too

I have and would definitely do it again!
Not awkward at all - it’s not like you’d talk when the show is on anyway. At the interval, get an ice cream or have a little browse through the dibb on your phone or whatever, it passes pretty quickly. Don’t miss out on what you want to do! x

Did you go away on your own Klair or has it not happened yet?
Must say, certain things you do by yourself, I cruise for example, you often get people talking to you, impressed that you have gone by yourself. But the theatre, no one bats an eye as loads of people go by their selves. Like you say can’t really chat anyway

My daughter loves the theatre and often goes on her own. She went to singing in the rain yesterday. She’s quite happy in her own company and would rather see the show than miss it.

I have done (mainly to Opera which is more of a desired taste) but theatre I need to go with someone to discuss it at the interval and after show. I wouldn't get that kick going alone

I used to go to London for work and would go to the theatre on my own as often as I could. You can quite often get great single seats for a good price. I almost went to see Beauty and the Beast in Manchester a few days ago as I was at a meeting there but dinner was already booked. £20 for great seats in the stalls.

I have been to a few shows alone. Doesn't bother me.
