Such a sad end to such a brilliant holiday Louise, I’m so sorry for you all. It’s not just stuff, but there’s memories attached to some belongings and many things won’t be possible to replace so I do hope that some things can be recovered.

I’m shocked that the cruise company aren’t being more helpful and apologetic over this, it’s not good customer service by them at all. Your contract is with them, not the baggage handlers and I’d definitely try to claim the cost and compensation from them before you go to the insurance so you will, hopefully, get the full value of your items.

If they don’t pay, then go to the insurers. Be aware that they could try arguing that the clothes aren’t new and deduct ‘wear and tear’ from the value too. I really hope they don’t, as we all take our best and new clothes on holiday. If anything was brand new, and you paid on your card, you can prove that it was new from your credit card bill or bank account statement.

Our luggage is apparently in Corfu, with a port agent. They think it will be weeks before we get it back!

They are sending a form for us to list all our belongings.

So your luggage is getting a nice holiday as well, it needs it after going diving. At least it should be dry by the time you get it.

Has the cruise company said if they are taking responsibility for replacing, cleaning and compensating you for the damaged belongings yet Louise?

How on earth is it in Corfu now? Such a shame its not being dealt with more efficiently. I do hope you’ll get it sorted quicker than expected x
