My magic band fell off on BTMR (actually I wasn’t even riding, just crossing over to the chicken exit and knocked it on a carriage).

I went and spoke to a lovely CM who called for ‘the grabber’ and it was retrieved in minutes.

If it had been anything valuable you bet I wouldn’t have moved until I got it back!

Yes, it does seem really weird!

Anyway, re magic bands, I've lost one on a previous trip and never got it back! I've bought those little coloured bands to put on a strap to hold it in place. 😀

If their Apple Watch was lost then they should have put their Apple Watch in lost mode (via their phone) to suspend the ability to pay using it. They could've also removed the ability to pay using their credit cards in the Wallet app.

And, as others have said, when the Watch fell off it should've locked and required a pin number in order to be used to pay for things.

I suppose it's not impossible for someone to use it - I'm sure there are ways around these things - but it sounds very unlikely and means she did not immediately set it to lost when she should have.

I'm also surprised that her bank(s) didn't pick this up as unusual activity, unless she often spends tens of thousands of dollars at Disney in a day?

Well I never knew you could put it in lost mode,so that is something I have learnt and will now have a look how to do this.
You never know when you may need this mode so thank you.Tracy x

Once an unlocked Apple Watch is removed from being worn, it would need to have the pin re-entered to unlock the watch, including enabling Apple Pay. (Just verified by removing my own watch and double clicking for Apple Pay).

Whoever picked it up would need to know the PIN in order to unlock it and maKe use of Apple Pay.

Does the story go into any detail?

This is getting discussed on the other thread and I agree mine also needs the pin to get into it as I’ve just checked it.

Yeah this story stinks. It would have immediately locked. I mean maybe she had 1234 as her pin or something but as people have said it’s easy enough to disable a device and declare it lost.
