I can't offer any advice but just wanted to say thank you for reminding me about mine! I read this and suddenly remembered in the midst of moving house in December I completely forgot to update my V5C document (I did my license though! ). With forgetting to update that I haven't received the reminder that my tax is due on 1 June to my new property

I hope he manages to get sorted

Well mystery now solved .

... although he updated his driving licence when he moved out of his flat at Xmas, he hadn't updated his V5 address after all

Lesson learned for him I guess - I think personally he's lucky it is only £80 these days - especially when third parties get involved,

We also had contact from Advantis. Mum part-ex’d her car, had receipts, did all paperwork in middle of lockdown then was chased for tax. I sent all paperwork to DVLA, who cancelled all fines. But the fine was already sold on to Advantis, who chased and chased, despite copies of all receipts and DVLA confirmation several times. In the end I had to block their numbers- whilst it isn't a scam, I don’t believe they are trustworthy either.
