Dal moro’s pasta place, it’s takeaway but boy it’s good. I’d also eat at the various bakery’s , the food is amazing . I can’t really say which places to avoid because we ent during the first and second lockdown so there were very few tourists so the food prices were aimed at locals. We ate on the canal side at Rialto for €25 for the two of us and apparently that’s unheard of . We got spoilt. Take the no 1 water bus to go up the canal . A gondola was €80 but not sure of that’s gone up. Well worth it imo. Have a great time and just wander , it’s a fantastic place . Murano and burano are so pretty as well.

It’s stunning. We did St Marks Basilica and square. Palazzo Ducale , Murano is simply gorgeous . We did a boat tour .so many beautiful churches and art galleries. It can be pricey eating by the canals but the experience is worth it .

Just back from Venice a few weeks ago. It is very expensive so be prepared!
We did the gondola tour €80, the Guggenheim museum and the palace. We really wanted to do the Basilica but the queues were horrendous and the hours were shortened the weekend we were there.
The boat tours looked great but we didn’t do them.
Wear very comfy shoes, you walk everywhere.
When we were there everywhere seemed to clear out in the evening time so really most restaurants were closing by 9pm.
We had a lovely time, if you enjoy walking around and taking the sites in you will enjoy your break
Food wise everything is pizza and pasta as you would expect!

Thank you all. It's all very exciting.

Did the gondola tour cost 80 euros each or per gondola? How many can fit in the gondola?

It’s per Gondola although we were quoted 80 then when we were on it he said he can take us somewhere else for more, like 100 or 120
We declined🙊
We loved it also did a cheap traghetto across the canal very cheap & quick
We went for Cocktails near our hotel at the Gritti Palace, great views of the Grand Canal
If you want a water taxi from airport I’d book one
I didn’t and was very nearly in the doghouse as they were all gone, managed to get one in the end
We also found the Snail type building
Scala Contarini del Bovolo, lovely views from the top

Yes I've booked water taxis so that's at least some planning achieved!

If you like your food head have a wander off the beaten path into the side streets and sample some chichetti (small plates). Very cheap and very tasty.

Highlight for us was the secret tour of Doges palace. Behind the scenes, and heard the story of Casanova.
