We have fttp and have no issues.
However there are known issues between BT and Sky products and they’re infuriating!
Every time we sort one issue another starts.
They know there are problems but they’re just not being fixed. Sky are useless .

Also if you can't get fibre and are stuck with cooper lines ( no virgin cable 9n you area) you have 2 other options.
4g or 5g mobile router which works off a mobile SIM. Good option if your mobile speeds are good

Elon musk the guy behind Tesla cars does satellite internet called starlink.
Just priced it, wowser runs about 124mbps

Sky q boxes are a nightmare at sucking the life out the WiFi very noticeable on internet with slow speeds to start with and causing issues with other devices as they demand a lot of data for programmes they download either it be series links or when watching films. Try turning it off at the mains for a few hours and see how your WiFi improves

We do live rurally and can’t get cable or Virgin or whatever so I bet the lines are also old. I just find it odd that it keeps going off for hours at a time at the same time a couple of times a month.

It’s not just being laggy - it actually stops working completely.

Thanks all. Guess I’m stuck with it for now.

I did that last night and there were exclamation marks all over the town where I live but not in my exact postcode and BT said there wasn’t an outage. 🤷🏼

Does it stop at the same time every night? If it is could some of the settings in the router have been changed for down time or something like that.

Yes, the last few times it’s happened it has been a similar time. But doesn’t happen every night. I said to DH that we should record the dates to see if there is a pattern.

The only thing I know of in the house which breaks the internet is the treadmill and that wasn’t on. And even then as soon as you stop using it, it starts again.

Our last house was rural and every Sunday night without fail, out BT internet would die. They could never explain it or accept responsibility. We left as soon as we could and moved to Sky and had no issues whatsoever.

Thanks for that. We were with Sky but it was quite slow and so switched and when it works, it is better than what we had with Sky but when it doesn’t work, it’s obviously not!
