Thank you all for the replies, good to see the positive reviews.

I don't want to pay for a bank account, nor do I want a joint account.

The additional cost to upgrade my 'free' insurance is cheaper than the £156/year and £100 less than the policy I would buy (we did not renew the policy as it was cheaper to open a new one in my name rather then the other half name) - then i looked into this.
It seems to match the policy I had too. I don'y need winter sports or cruise cover that in in the flex plus one.

Do I leave a company that were really good when I had to claim? This is my dilemma, hence good to read the positive replies.

We have to upgrade the 'free' insurance as my husband is diabetic. You also have to upgrade for worldwide as it only covers Europe. That said, we were amazingly impressed by the service when we had to have our gorgeous cat put to sleep the night we were going on holiday a few years back. We couldn't face the holiday and never thought we'd bother claiming under such circumstances but someone suggested it to us as worth a try. Nationwide paid out for the holiday in full without a quibble and were so kind and understanding about our family pet. That's service
