Crazy ideas to save money at WDW
Have any of your OH had what you think as a crazy idea to save money on your WDW trip?
This started when I told my DH that the car hire had got expensive and we would now have to pay around $140 to park the hire car at our onsite hotel. His reply was as Disney Springs is free - can we just leave the car at Disney springs as we wont use it every day. Technically it might be possible - but not practical. I replied the free giftcard could be used to pay the parking fee ( still not happy about this new rule). Any other similar stories?

We took the credit for opting out of housekeeping but apart from that we didn't do anything out of the ordinary to save costs. We had a car which was useful but we got it as part of a flydrive package, did a road trip before we arrived at Disney and didn't pay for parking at resort. We considered giving it back early but we got such a good deal initially that we wouldn't have got much of a refund.
Next time we stay onsite we won't bother with a car. Nice to have but not worth the cost of hire + petrol + the parking charges. If you don't need a car to the extent you are considering parking it at DS - why are you hiring one? Just hire one for a day or a couple of days?

Simple - don't hire a car.
Sounds like you are onsite so use the Magical Express to get you to hotel - it's free. Then use Uber/Lyft as and when you need it. Uber from Disney Springs to Crossroads where there are loads of restaurants is about $6 each way. |

Our latest is to add 12 days onto our holiday buy more park tickets etc (will cost £4000) but wont have to pay twice for flights is the logic
We haven't committed yet but are tempting ourselves more and more. On our first trip we used buses...it is a bit more hassle but saved us loads and we didn't actually mind the bus ride back it was quite relaxing lol.

I'm sure Disney would soon cotton on to guests leaving cars overnight at Disney springs and start charging for parking.
As others have said do you really need a car?

Why not hire a car from DCCC for only the days that you need it?
Might involve much more indepth planning but if you work out what you plan to do away from the parks over a few days that can be grouped together, then you could hire the car and cut down the cost of parking & the cost of hiring a car...anything else could be topped up by Uber/Lyft.
