how to get messenger off your mobile

DD got a new phone and gave her old Samsung one to her dad, he had washed his in the machine!

He has no idea how to work anything technical but I have noticed that DD is still signed in to her messenger account from FB on her old phone as well as her new one. I keep deleting the messages so he doesn't see them as she might be a bit embarrassed if he saw any. I have spent ages tonight trying to get rid of the account but just can't seem to do it.
Anyone got any ideas how to do it please?

I think you press on the one you want to get rid of until
An "x" shows
Press on the "x"
Then down bottom of phone there is a circle button press once so no "x" showing?

Ok I have done that and it actually said uninstall so hoping its that simple. I never thought of trying to do it like you would with a widget on the home page. Will see if any new messages come through tomorrow. I keep trying to head them off. He hasn't got a clue how to open them anyway but she would be mortified if there was a chance he had read them.

Well whilst I had his phone I have done a software update and tidied it all up. Messenger has gone so I'm hoping it has gone for good. Her last message from her mates at work was titled
'p***headsrus'
Not sure he would have appreciated it LOL!

If she changed her fb password it gives the option to logout on all other devices.
