Which car?
Looking at buying a new car (new to us not brand new). We were wanting an estate as we go camping and have a dog so need the boot space. We have bern thinking Hyundai i40 or Toyota avensis, anyone have these and what you think of them. Also open to suggestions on other makes.

I quite like nearly new Ford Focus estates as they depreciate like crazy from new so less than 1 year old ex demos can be picked up for about £10k off new price.

I have just bought the dacia duster, dont knock it and laugh, its returning 60mpg is only costing me 30 a year to tax is comfortable and held 5 peoples bags from the airport the other day.
And just shy of 11k of a 65plate with 5k on the clock(zoom in on the dash) im beyond happy

Colin isn't wrong. Fantastic value. I'm a Mondeo lover, have a look at the carrying capacity. Immense!

We have a Grand Cmax, good boot space and lots of flexibility too. We have it as a four seater at the moment so girls can put their bags between them and spare us their Kilkenny Cat impression.

Some of the newer designs like the SEAT Leon SW (estate) have a much bigger loadspace than appears. We have Volvo V70 which are great but when time comes to replace will have a really good look at Focus estate, Leon SW, Skoda Octavia etc all of which have tried for week-ends. Also had Mondeo and Avensis estates which were really good as well.
To be honest normally we would just go for another new V70 but the prices have increased too much, as has the servicing costs. We don't want the SUV designs as we prefer the lower centre of gravity, but we had a Toyota RAV4 which was very good. Actually the Citroen C5 estate is fantastic too but our local Citroen dealer is absolutely awful. The dogs will love the ride quality in the Exclusive versions of the C5, not conventional steel springs more a magic carpet. The lower VTR models are normal though if preferred. Mostly the airport taxis round here are Mondeo estates and Avensis estates so that's probably worth something I guess. |
