Norwegian Fjords July 2014 part 4

Next was Bergen, we berthed next to the old part of the town and walked along the Bryggen to the funicular. The boys didn’t want to get up until 8 but it was all ashore at 7:30 so I thought the queues would be horrendous but when we got there one left and we got on the next. Weather was a bit showery but still warm. Don’t laugh at the poncho and hat – umbrellas are a no-no when you use 2 sticks.

You may have gathered that DS1 is somewhat photo shy, prefering to be behind a camera than in front. This is one of the few pictures we got of him - he had great fun "playing" a game thing on his phone that as far as I can gather is like orienteering with (virtual) weapons, you have to find a portal and secure it for your "team" and continue to defend it as long as you can. Actually it was quite interesting and because we are on 3 we could have some fun with it. It probably took us to some places we would not have seen otherwise.

Bryggen was really interesting. I would love to go back. We didn't do Bergen justice.

And that's it really, for an "extra" we did pretty well for ourselves. We love to cruise and it's a great family holiday. The boys always make friends.
This was the first time they had their own cabin which was a concern as they aren't the tidiest but it worked fine.

DS1 was a bit worried about his drinks bill one morning but again it wasn't bad, he had gone to bed about 4am and forgot that as I was paying the cabin charges I would see everything he bought and at what time - LOL - but he's a big boy now.

I would certainly go back to the fjords, we were lucky the sea conditions and the weather were pretty good and we had a great time.

Lovely TR - thanks for sharing. We did a Fjords cruise for the first time this year with RCCL and loved it. It seems the only port we had in common was Stavanger though so it's nice to see the other ports on offer.
