Just to clarify... This is all just a wild rumour at the moment, nothing has been proposed. And the above picture was not produced by Walt Disney World - it's just someone's sketch.

Still, *if* this happens then I like the sound of it. I'm all for new ideas and new methods of getting around WDW.

Of course, it'll mean even higher ticket prices...

Given plans have been filed:

"Recently filed permitting plans suggest that Walt Disney World may be about to get its own gondola transportation system.

The plans show several structures at key locations around property, with some exhibiting quite distinctive proportions - L Shapes, that are typically used to change direction on overhead cable-based gondolas."

The "sketch" demonstrates where these structures would be.

And it seems Orlando Sentinel think its very much a Gondola (cable car system):

At the moment it's a rumour based on some suggestions made by the folks on WDWMagic.

Disney have filed some construction permits for some buildings dotted around WDW. The shape of one or two of those buildings looks a bit strange. Some people on a forum like this one speculated that the plans might be for a gondola-type system.

The Orlando Sentinel - and many other websites - are reporting this rumour, which is fine. But they all agree that it's just speculation. Disney hasn't (yet) filed any plans for a gondola system. As Orlando Sentinel themselves say:

"Theme park fans on the WDWMagic.com website who saw the permits theorized the work could be for the rumored gondola lift".

And saying "Walt Disney map" sounds (at least to me) like it was a map produced by Walt Disney. I was just making it clear to others that the map wasn't produced by Disney.

TBH, as the tethered ballon was not operating because of 'high winds' I could see this hitting problems.

Whens the teleportation system going into epcot. My dog told me there was one.

I don't find gondolas going into epcot particularly "of tomorrow".

I used to go on those in Butlins Ayr c. 1971... and guess what they had...
