Dublin Pre-Clearance

I think I know the answer to this but...

I'm looking at flights out of Dublin and can save over £2k if I fly DUB-GWK-MCO instead of direct.

Am I right in assuming that this means I can't do pre-clearance? Is that for direct flights outa dublin to USA only?

No pre-clearance i'm afraid. Flew twice from Dublin via London to Vegas and had to do immigration and customs in Vegas! Your flight from Dublin has to land in the US for pre-clearance.

You can fly direct to USA (then you will clear us customs in Ireland) then come back via London on the way back, we did this last year and it worked perfectly. Saved 3 of us nearly £800
