Own transport v onsite transport
We have stayed on site numerous times. First time had a car for 3 weeks.
Second time just for a week. The first time we mainly used the car, and the second time we mainly used the internal transport for all Disney related. Now planning next Oct. I tend to plan the smallest details including how to get to each park on each day and I just cant what is more efficient even though I have done both! On the one hand the internal transport is less stressful because you just wait for it and dont have to worry about directions , going the wrong way etc but on the other hand you have to wait a while sometimes, and getting a pushchair in with 2 children, then either standing or sitting with the pushchair on you lap is not fun! So then I lean towards the car, but the car parks then have a second tram system to the gate which involves a wait and been squashed again! So far I have decided waterparks / Disney Springs will be the car. But what would you choose for the rest in Disney and why?

My views are well know. Car every time. Apart from the MK (and that's debatable!) I will beat a bus every time to the Park entrance.
Flexibility and convenience. Cannot be doing buses with all that waiting around and freezing cold in the air con if it's wet. However I don't decry people who have to or choose to use the Disney transport as it is excellent. Just not for me.

Car every time for me I have used the Disney transport and still do sometimes to hop from one park to another.
But the car is more convenient especially at busy times nothing worse than getting to the bus stop and finding it rammed only to find you just did not fit on that bus and if you did fit on you were one of the many standing up. Kind of reminds me why I do not use public transport back home. If you have got a car I would say use it as and when you feel it would be best. If your going to be moving around in relatively quite periods then use Disney transport.

I agree with TEL N KEL,car opens up all options.
Why not hire next day at DCC and return day before you leave. Your staying on site pick a smaller car easy for moving around, no carpark charges and use ME to and from airport,Disney transportation if having a G@T or beer. Seems best option. We say off-site but 4+ drivers so easy for designated driver. Enjoy.

I will have a car for the full duration. I never use public transport in the UK, hate it. Much prefer my own space, my own little clean bubble where I choose what goes on.
But I do remember in 2012 making more then one wrong turn within Disney and that was rather stressful with 5 people in the car all giving their opinion! This is where the bus was great, but I tend to agree I prefer the car option. Does NAVMII the free satnav app, give you directions withing Disney? I think If I could crack the directions, it will be a car most of the time. Trying to be the most efficient I can with the least stress in my plans!
