Washington hotels

Hi
We are (hopefully) going to Washington DC August 2021, can anyone recommend hotels. Needs to be fairly central near metro links. Also transport from Dulles airport is taxi the best option? Thanks ☺️

I stayed at JW Marriott- great location as a quick walk to all the main sites, museums etc. Their breakfast was also superb.

We stayed at the grand hyett on 4th street just next door to NASA!
It was very convenient for the metro and for getting to the mall.

We took a taxi from the airport for ease, but got the metro and shuttle bus back, which costs about 10 dollars I think! And was very easy

We stayed at the Hilton garden inn, it was very near the metro & so easy to get about but there wasn’t anywhere really within walking distance to eat a decent meal, I was very surprised as I expected it to be like london - restaurants everywhere ! Not so ! Loved it though, we walked miles / so much to see ! I’d defi go back

We booked virgin flights thru netflights & transfers to/from Dulles were included so can’t help with that sorry

We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton, right next to R Reagan International. A good, clean, standard Hotel with a revolving Restaurant on the top, 11th or 12th floor. The restaurant turns a revolution every 15 minutes and both day and night time views are to die for.

It is as near as you can get to Dulles, being on the other side of the river. We flew out of Dulles to Orlando indirect via Detroit, even though we could have flown direct from R Reagan.. I wanted to see the amazing Hazy Centre at Dulles! The taxi was $72

The Hotel is a $5 taxi ride past the Pentagon and over the Potomac to the Lincoln Memorial and everything else is a walk from there.

Have a look at the map and the reviews. I would most certainly stay there next time! It is also of typical Doubletree value for money.. excellent!

We have twice stayed at the Hilton in OldTown Alexandria. An excellent hotel and right beside the King street Metro station. King Street Alexandria is great for the restaurants and bars in the evening.

We stayed at the River Inn in Foggy Bottom. Close to Georgetown for the metro, walking distance to the major landmarks
We used a super shuttle as our transfer from Dulles

We stayed just north of the White house, Hamilton Hotel, corner of 14th and K, nice hotel, but we wouldnt stay there again as there appeared to be a lack of affordable restaurants, so more of an area to avoid rather than recommend!
