ESTA expiry

My current esta doesn’t run out till June, however I want to book a new trip for after June. I want to make sure that my esta is in place before booking, so my question is can I have 2 estas running at the same time or if I apply for a new one now, will it let me and if so can I do it now or do I need wait for my existing one to expire? Has anyone experienced this?

You can't have two ESTA's at the same time because applying for a new one will automatically cancel the old one. There is no reason why you cannot apply for a new one before your current one runs out though, although you will get a message to say there is already an active ESTA with that passport number, it just asks if you want to continue.

You can apply now and it will just cancel any existing Esta. I think it will say you already have one and do you want to continue. Make sure you click on the ? next to first given name and add any middle names here too if they are on your passport under given names.

If you apply for a new Esta now it will automatically cancel out any old one that is attached to the same passport number.

Sorry to high Jack, but I've just reapplied for ours and didn't get an email to say they have been approved, but when I go and check the status it says on there they have. Is it normal not to get an email to say they have been approved?

Yes, quite normal!

You don't get emails to say they have been approved, that's perfectly normal, but you will be emailed a month before expiry to warn you.

To get an email to say your ESTA is approved is abnormal; it doesn’t happen.
