Savi's Lightsabers Shipping

Hey all,

So we're off to Disney in September and i'm booked into Savi's to build a LS but i'm a little concerned (like many others) about getting it home in one piece. I'm flying with Virgin so by the sounds of it, taking it as carry on is possible.

But i'm wondering if you can get Disney to ship it home like other things from the park? As at least it'd be insured/protected (am i right?).

Also, we're in Disney for 3 weeks and we're at Savi's on our fourth day there, it gives it plenty of time to get home.

Thanks in advance!

If you ship it home you would have to pay import duty and VAT. Around £45 plus the cost of shipping it.

The lightsabers come in their own padded bag. For piece of mind, I'd suggest just bringing it home with you as carry-on baggage. That way, you can make sure it doesn't get damaged rather than on relying on the postal service.

Anyway, looking on shopDisney.com (the US website, not the UK one) at the $200 Legacy lightsabers, international shipping to the UK costs $76. And then, as SMAX says, there will be customs duty and VAT on top of that. So maybe around $120 (about £100) in total, assuming that postage cost is correct?

We flew home in Friday with a lightsaber with BA and they didn’t bat an eyelid. We popped it in the overhead bin when everything else was loaded in. No problems at all.

Having read this and a few others, i think you're right. Best option is just to take it as carry on.

Thanks very much for the insight.

Thanks for posting this. We will be flying back with BA and have been waiting for someone else to post their experience.

Flew back with VA last weekend. Saw people with droid boxes and the saber bags as hand luggage. We also carried on one of the cheaper lightsabers that don’t collapse into itself, with no issues.

Flew back from LA with my mate a couple of weeks ago.
We each had one and it was not a problem. The VA air hostess put them away in a cupboard at the front of our premium economy cabin. Then had them out waiting for us as we left the plane. I really wouldn’t worry.

We also had the surprise of Alden Ehrenreich being on our flight.
I had a chat with him at Heathrow when waiting for our bags.

Went to LA to fly the millennium falcon and then flew home with Han Solo himself! You couldn’t make it up

Lovely guy.
