It’s option 2. Except they have never really taken the $200. It shows as a potential transaction and then just disappears.

I'm confused about all it all works too! All I know is Disney have already charged my credit card for around $130-ish today as I got a text from my bank about it!

Having Dinner with Goofy

We stayed on site at Disney for the first time earlier this month and found the whole 'hold' thing on our account a bit confusing. We had the initial $100 hold on our account straight away then another $100 was added when we went above $100 with our spends against the card. What made it more confusing for us was that we had always intended to use our $200 gift card to pay off the card at the end of our stay and we advised guest relations as such when we first checked in.
We ended up using the gift card to make part payment of the balance o/s when the 2nd $100 was on the account as we were concerned that our card was going to get charged automatically as we were informed at guest relations that a figure of $200 on the account will trigger an actual payment being taken from the card. To further complicate things we noticed yet another amount - $20 on our account on the final day when we were settling up. We queried this and was told that it was another hold amount and would disappear when home as our account was paid in full at that time with zero o/s. I thought this was a strange thing to be told at the time, but didn't argue. The $20 was actually taken from our account when we got back to the UK, and after a bit of too-ing and fro-ing with Disney via email it was established that this was an incorrect charge for a table service no-show (which wasn't a no-show) and this was eventually refunded to us. Overall experience not great and not very customer friendly for us, but that could have been purely because we were so set on paying for everything charged to our account using the gift card that came as part of our package.

Blimey, that’s a pain. I think we are mostly going to stick to credit card since we will be taking a bag into the parks anyway, and maybe just have a card on file and only charge minor amounts like the odd drink, if we happen to be separated for any length of time. Not worth the hassle!

Just checked in at ASS and the girl said they would hold $100 until the end of the holiday. Nothing more than that.

Getting to know the DIBB

We went in September and I asked how charging to the magic band worked at check in. I was told because I had a card on my account that I could charge anything to the account using my magic band and the card on file would be charged on our check out day. I didn't check for holds so not sure what happened with that exactly but we had no problems at all. We charged over $2000 to our account and it all got taken from the credit card on file in one go the morning we checked out. I entered the card details on the MDE app before we travelled and they never even asked to see the card while we were there. For us it was an easy, convenient and totally hassle free way to pay for everything.
