I happen to think we live in a golden age of TV with BBC/netflix/Sky Atlantic producing some of the most thought provoking dramas/documentaries we have ever had the chance to view as/when we please...

I completely agree with you, it's absolute trash. I never watch any reality TV and really get annoyed with myself for being drawn in by this.

I blame Iain Stirling, he's VERY funny.

The irony though as you have just posted on the LI thread 😉
No need for a tin hat though as we realise that LI is not everyone's cup of tea , I do enjoy the other channels you have named I'm not restricted to reality TV , I just find it a bit of escapism from normality 😊

appreciate the irony but as an example chernobyl has ammased 5 pages of comments in 3 weeks love island 8 pages in 12 hours..

I contribute quite a bit to the TV forum and there are a lot of good programmes that get hardly any response , one night of Eurovision brought in 533 posts , I'm a celebrity always brings in loads of posts as did Big Brother , weather you like it or not reality TV is popular, not forgetting the many people who watch it but are too embarrassed to admit to it so don't post 😂
Yes I totally agree each to their own, it would be strange if everyone enjoyed the same programmes 😊

Can I also say that watching rubbish TV really isn't an effective way of measuring someone's intelligence. These kind of programmes are escapism, Last year I regularly discussed Love Island with a very well regarded consultant gynaecologist, I don't really feel that her choice of escapism after work was any indication as to her intelligence or intellect.

Maybe she was just comfortable enough in herself to not need to pretend she goes home and watches intellectual media?

I’d have loved to see Chernobyl but I don’t have Sky so don’t have access to it. Can’t comment on what I can’t watch.

So perhaps Love Island being on ITV2 is also more accessible?

Edit to say if anyone can tell me how to get Chernobyl without Sky please feel free! 😃

Can't help with your question but I watch Chernobyl and really enjoying it despite it being quite a depressing watch , if all I watched were programmes like this and the doom and gloom of the soaps that are on nearly every night I would be heading for the nearest cliff top , nothing wrong with a bit of escapism with reality TV , my 16 year old grandson often jokes with me about my choice of " crap " TV yet here he is now hooked on LI himself 😂
