Hi
I have a policy with Boots and they asked how much cancellation was required per person when I called them for a quote and I doubled checked when purchasing, that the amount was definitely per person.

This is very interesting! I think I have been paying too much in this case. Originally I found this info on the summary pdf of a Leisure Guard Lite policy from one of the comparison site listings - that's when I began to question it!

Also just to say that if this is the case (they're all essentially per person) then I do think the comparison sites should be setting their filters to work differently (rolled up limit for the group, or state 'per person' on the filter) as it's quite misleading - surely intentionally!

When you pay for a policy the price is based on the number of people you put into the information boxes eg individual, couple, family, group etc so the cover is per person named on the policy. It's obvious because the cover levels don't change when you put a different number of people in the search, only the price. Excesses are per person as well.

Obviously it tells you in the policy summary and the full policy as well so you would know before you bought it anyway.

and the excess will normally be for each person claiming.

Absolutely it's just not great UX is all (and could indeed be a desirable knock-on effect in terms of people over-buying...)!
