Is she on a contract? My provider upgraded me for an extra £2 a month to use it like a cell phone in the states. Can use my data, calls, text and all sorts.

If not. t-mobile are the best SIM to get for american, But of course be careful that the phone lets you use it.

Mobile

I was under the impression from a lot of recent reviews that over the last year the service/ coverage in the USA from t mobile was now very poor and certainly no where near as good as it was and that the EE max plans that include the USA were a much better option

That’s just t mobile with 3 feel at home which is limited to 3G but if you get a sim from t mobile it’s very fast

I used a Three SIM, with the Feel At Home feature, I had no problems at all. Had a few thousand minutes, texts and data to use for about £10 a month

I have just sent for a free sim from three. Are you on a contract already with three for your phone in the U.K.?
I contacted them and they said calls in the US to a US number were 56p per minute. We only really want it for emergencies and don't intend calling home.
