Having checked the dates of the OPs flights they are on the AT that normally operates out of Glasgow and it DOES have seatback IFE.
I ve had four flight on that aircraft so far and will have another two this May. We travel to Orlando once or twice a year and were VA regulars. Now this TC Airtanker lease is our preferred way to get to Florida. Although its economy only the seats are really comfy, being thinner than standard airline seats the give more space but with the same airline standard 31" seat pitch. These new style seats are ergonomically designed, thinner than usual , but for me much kinder on the butt IFE, if you pay the upgrade is OK, just don't expect it to be the same films as Cineworld. Edit The "secret" to the Airtanker recognition is, on the seat booking screen... Original AT with seatback IFE has front row seating of 2-4-2. The latest AT with overhead screens and streaming IFE to your own tablet,iPad,smartphone etc has front row seating of 2-3-2. This is leased for summer season only. Both are Economy only Also for info.. There is another plane in the TC fleet that has a front row seating of2-2-2 in case you come across this unit. I don't know the IFE status. It is Economy only and is sub leased from TC Scandinavia Hope this helps. Edited at 10:31 PM. |

I don't understand (personally) people who value IFE so highly on a flight to the USA. The flight is a means to an end. It's a mode of transport. Having no IFE wouldn't put me off a flight to the USA if the plane was comfortable, the food and service decent - and well priced.
In an age of gadgets galore, iPads, and iPhones, hand held game consoles and the such - why is having seat back IFE with 10,000+ movies that important? Just a shower thought! Not intending to have a go at anyone here... I just notice that one of the big things is 'IFE is crap', I just don't understand that as a reason not to fly with an airline - not that I'm asking for that opinion to be justified! I just... don't get it. To OP: Flown several times with TC in Economy and Premium - both were great - free upgraded IFE in Premium and free drinks. Economy at an additional charge. Flying with them again in April - never had a problem, and flight crew always pleasant and helpful! Edited at 02:51 AM. |

I agree, its a tin can, full of germs, airline food is usually crap, so i take my own, and i can easily load tablet with things to entertain family etc! A few hours out of a two week holiday to get me where i need to go! Price and being direct are my deciding factors!

we were ardent VA fans until we had an awful flight with a broken wet seat and no TV the crew didn't want to know and just gave us a thin blanket to sit on. we booked TC for the next holiday in 2012 and have always used TC since. good food, great staff and good service , we have 2 holidays booked this year and 1 for next. you can pay by direct debit making it even easier.
I guess they have problems like other airlines but I can only speak from my experiences. |

I think people have mentioned it because it's one of the things the OP asked about and is one of the main differences imho between Virgin and TC. I don't think anyone on here has said it's a deal breaker. I totally agree that it's just a way to get to where I'm going and anything on top of that is a bonus

Following.
We usually book BA or Virgin but due to price we are with TC this October. We have got PE both ways so hopefully that will help. IFE also not a deal breaker for us but I would like to know what to expect. We are traveling with 2 young boys and they liked playing the games etc with VA. Is there even such a thing on TC. Also are the films on a loop or can you start them independently? |

We flew with TC in 2014, not on the Airtanker, I will add.
I wouldn't hesitate to fly TC again and indeed, we are flying with them on our honeymoon. As others have said, the IFE lets TC down but you can pay to upgrade. I actually thought the food was pretty good (James Martin menus) but there's only so much you can get out of in-flight food, if we're honest. Both flights were on time. At the end of the day, if they get you from the UK to Florida with minimal stress, and for cheaper than VA (which they usually are!) then you're good to go! |
