Gla-Gatw-Mco advice please
Ok so we are doing this route for the first time. Our flight from Glasgow leaves at 7am - what time should we be at the airport to check in?
We arrive at Gatwick at 8.35am and our flight to Orlando departs at 11.15 - where do we go when our flight lands at Gatwick? I know we don’t need to collect our luggage but do we need to go to another desk or security etc? Will there be enough time for breakfast or should we get something at Glasgow beforehand if it’s going to be tight? Sorry for all the questions, only flew direct in the past! 😁

We get to airport about 2 and a half hours before flight.
Past few years even though we were on a connecting flight we have had to go back through security at Gatwick. Last year a bus met our flight and took us to security. Just follow the signs (though most of our plane was connecting to Orlando!) You should have plenty of time to have breakfast - we have always had time to do so.

Don’t worry it’s a very essy transistion. You will arrrive at Gatwick, chances are it wil then mean disembarking off plane onto a bus the. It will drive you to another part of the terminal, you will get off the bus and follow signs to flight connections, you wil have to go thru security again and then you will be into departures and you should have time for a breakfast if your flights on time arriving and security isn’t to bad

BA are now using the South Terminal, you will be bussed from the
aircraft to the Terminal, their is NO FLIGHT CONNECTIONS available in the South Terminal.Security lines are very long so I would get airside as quick as possible, plenty of eating places your flight will come up on the monitors an hour or so before the departure time, It can be a bit of a hike,at the entrance to the departure gate you will be checked in.BA now board according to what cabin you are travelling in,unless you require special assistance or have young children. In my oponion the north terminal was better. |

As people say, there is no clear path to connections but there is a family security path which is 1 officer only and is meant for connections only.

We normally do Flying Scot & aim to be at the airport for 5:00, at that time very little is open in Glasgow, so straight to check-in, then upstairs get thru Security & then have a coffee. Arrive London, do the security thing all over again & then decide where we want to eat (airside) also plenty of time for shopping if you need anything.

Glasgow to Gatwick is an internal flight so check in 1 hr before. We don't arrive early for the internal flight as it's just a load of hanging about. Through security again in Gatwick then time for food.

We are doing the exact same flights on 1/7/18. Thinking of getting to airport for about 5am but we are only 15mins drive to airport. I joined the My gatwick app and put in flight details and got preferred security for £2 for all 4 of us as kids were free (for £2 its worth a chance if it speeds up security). Thanks for info on Gatwick as not done that route b4 so sounds ok for time.

Security can be busy at that time of the morning especially in the summer so will need to factor that in if you are planning on dropping off your bags just before check in closes. Just a pity I can't use the staff search when I go on holiday..
