Alamo- protection type invalid

So after reading the posts on here. We decided to book Alamo savetime.

Booked from Alamo direct. Didn't prepay fuel, selected to pay for car on arrival (as the sticky says)

Did the save time no problem. Got the voucher with the barcode on.

We then proceeded to do online check in. Filled everything out correctly and we keep getting the same error 'protection type invalid'
Tried everything to figure out how to get rid of the error and check in properly but struggling.
Even amended the booking and getting the same error.

Any ideas? X

Not come across that one before!

Sounds like a problem with the website itself.

Did you book via .com, .co.uk or Brits?

It was through Alamo.co.uk.

Literally followed your sticky step by step.

Even tried using the laptop instead of ipad. And googling, but no joy. Keep thinking it could be a glitch, but thought I'd better ask on here in case anyone else had come across it x

I would give them a call.

So I've also cancelled the booking through co.uk. Then tried booking through .com. With this option you don't get the save time ability. It wasn't in the confirmation email or on the website. The only option is the check in online.

So I cancelled this and tried booking through the co.uk option again.
I managed the save time, then went onto Alamo.com to do check in online, and still the same error code.

Can I triple check before I phone them that you can definitely book the car through Alamo.co.uk, save time with co.uk, and then go onto Alamo.com and do check in online?

Are you using the save time link from the email of your Brits booking?

This is the OLCI link I used last year -
alamo/en_US/car-rental/checkin.html

Yes, I managed the save time bit successfully. Received the email saying so.
And yes that's the link I'm using for the online check in. Still saying the same error code. X

Some times the system just seems to be against you. I have a similar problem, and after getting different replies from Alamo, I will think I will end up trying to Kiosk or the queue. The amount of time I was spending on this was starting to out weigh the benefit of doing it... :-(
