Port Canaveral Cruise Recommendations

We got to Orlando every year, but this year want to do a mini-cruise (3-4 day) from Port Canaveral. We have never been on cruise before, and have no idea where to start (who's best etc.). We are 2 adults and a 2 children (10 and 8) any recommendations?

People will probably say best is DCL but they tend to be considerably more expensive than other lines...

Not many cruise lines sail from Port Canaveral. You will have far more choice if you include Fort Lauderdale and Miami.

We cruised last year for the 1st time on the Carnival Liberty from Port Canaveral.

It took in Nassau and Freeport, there were 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 9)

It was absolutely amazing, the kids loved the kids club and we wouldn't hesitate to book it again!

I think a 4 day cruise would be a good 'taster' as I'm personally not that excited by the idea of being on a boat for too long!

For a 3-4 day cruise I wouldn't want to add on the drive to/from Fort Lauderdale or Miami. NCL is fine for a short cruise from Port Canaveral. I haven't been on Carnival for years but they are popular too.

The thing is that a short cruise of, say, four days is a cruise of really only 2.5 days, i.e embarkation day (half a day), days two and three, and then leaving day, which is usually around 9am.

Many people don’t like the idea of being on a ship for long and then completely change their minds when the cruise is over. What is it that puts you off?

We have done a 3 nighter on the Disney Dream and on RC
Mariner Of the Seas. Would really recommend them both. Disney is fab but v expensive. Mariner is newly renovated and fab too! Cant go wrong with either imo.

Jan, I agree with you :-)
But for a first cruise four days is better than three
