Suggestions for places to stay between San Francisco and Yosemite
Hi All
Super excited to have booked flights this afternoon for another California road trip for 3 weeks Sept/Oct next year flying Manchester to San Francisco. A must-do this trip is Yosemite and we were thinking of going to Yosemite first then back to the PCH and work our way down to San Diego. Any suggestions for places to stay for 1 night to break up the journeys San Fran-Yosemite and then Yosemite-PCH. We have been to San Fran before so not bothered about seeing it again, and we have also stayed in Monterey previously so don't really want to stay there again either. My head is spinning already LOL |

Hi it's a resonably short drive to yosemite just over 3 hour so an overnight stop is not required. But if you are looking for something else to do could we suggest Lake Tahoe , 3.5 hours and after this you would have a 2.5 hour to yosemite. We did Lake Tahoe this year and really enjoyed it's quiet coves or bustling town which ever suits you

Love the sound of Lake Tahoe
Is Sacramento worth a visit/overnight stop? Don't think hubby would fancy a 3 hour plus drive straight after a long flight. |

Hi again on west coast trips 3 hours is an easy drive , stop for coffee and some photos and your there. Last time we drove Yosemite Vegas 6 hours and even this wasn’t to bad.

As it’s just rest why not stay at the airport?
Or if you are wanting to get a head start on the next day just pick a roadside motel somewhere and hours drive from the airport. I had a look at were we have stayed in Saratoga oaks but it takes you south near Silicon Valley which is a long way round. |

We flew to San Francisco and didn't want to drive to Yosemite the same day so stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Pleasanton for the first night then onto Yosemite the next day . Pleasanton is about 50 mins away so an easy drive and there is a huge WalMart to stock up on all the essentials need for the drive ahead . Pleasanton to Yosemite Valley just over 3 hours .
