Tripe and onions

Was in Morrisons yesterday and saw they had tripe. Really wanted to buy some. it looked as if it had already been blanched so wouldn't have been smelly. DH wasn't impressed so I left it. There must be other people who like tripe and onions?

Back in the day when our high street had butcher shops can remember seeing this in the window and thinking not for me.

In Newcastle Grainger market we had The Tripe Shop. I worked in Newcastle for many years & the amount of people who bought the stuff was unreal

Yes, the butchers shop where I lived near Leeds used to sell it ready cooked. loved it!

I'm sorry to say, I used to love it! Just goes to show you should try things! I didn't really know what it was so ate it quite happily!
My favourite was elder, with lots of vinegar! My dad used to love it too, he liked honbeycomb and beef roll as well! We always had it on a Sat watching the wrestling!

I will admit to actually liking tripe ! Couldn’t eat it cooked though. Always honeycomb with raw onion and plenty of vinegar. Refreshing with a salad on a warm day. I also love a black pudding with a dollop of piccalilli from Bury market !

I used to buy it raw for my Afghan Hound. She loved it but not for me I’m afraid, even the blanched and cooked stuff I was served up in. tapas bar in Spain.

Tripe, onions poached in milk with plenty white pepper.
Oh, don’t forget the mash potatoes.
