tui check in at Gatwick

we are staying over night at the PI at Gatwick and have a check out time of noon

we fly at 11am and are only taking cabin bags. if we do the online check-in with tui I am guessing you dont have to arrive 3 hours before the flight and can chill out in your room for longer

would turning up at the terminal an hour before your flight be ok

Personally I wouldn't get there with an hour to go as you don't know how busy security would be and how far you have to go to get to the gate.

I’d give myself maybe 90mins just to be on the safe side. International flights can board as much as 45mins before departure time and as PP has said you have to factor in security and walk to the gate

Why not chill at the airport once through security?

You may need to go to the desk with tui to get your boarding passes and for extra security checks so bear that in mind

You'll have to clear security and the additional security measures for a US flight, not to mention the flight starts boarding around 1 hour before departure, if you rock up an hour before then security could be busy and you risk being late.

Another thing that some seem to forget in these instances is, if everyone is boarded they can close the doors and ask for an early departure.
