We have a Tefal 8 in 1 cooker which slow cooks. It also does rice and steaming. It’s worked well for us, especially for risotto.

I just replaced ours this week with the Morphy Richards sear and stew and am really happy with it. I like that you can use the pot on the job first for browning meat etc rather than using a separate pan. Helps keep all the juices and flavour in the food 😊

Bumping this thread as looking at slow cookers at the moment and am befuddled by the selection.
Any particular recommendations for someone who has never used one before
There’s only 3 of us in the family if that makes any difference.

We have four in the house ATM! Kids took them to uni, and to be fair used them a lot, then came back home and left them in the garage.

The one that we use the most is an oval one so we can get whole chickens in and longer cuts of meat etc. As above dark pans don't show the staining as much as white and a tight fitting glass lid. They can be pretty heavy when full so see how you feel about the weight of it. We like ones that have a high medium and low / keep warm function. Some have timers, but I just use the ones that you plug into the wall, and plug the slow cooker into that so it turns itself on.

I think if any of our current ones finally give up the ghost I would like something like the sear and stew for ease.

One of our smaller ones the crock will also go in the microwave, so fridge to hob, to slowcooker to table, to fridge to microwave to dishwasher. Now we are down to a floating number between 3 and 7 I cook for larger numbers and just freeze it for later so bigger pot is better for me.

I have a crockpot, which is great, but it doesn’t have a light to indicate its on, which my previous one from Tesco did. First world problem i know, but i would prefer one with a light 🙂

Would you think having the option to brown meat etc in the pot before putting in the slow cooker is a big benefit?
I see that with some slow cookers you can do this but can’t with others.
