so direct flights in aug from birmingham to orlando is 3500 for 4 peeps. I can fly indirect from birmingham to Tampa for £2400 with KLM. The stop off is at amsterdam and we have 1.5 hours to change to next flm flight. Has anyone had any experience of doing this and is 1.5 hours enough ? - presume I have to recollect bags , re check , security etc.
Seems like a good saving but worried about missing the connecting flight.

I asked a similar question, leeds bradford indirect to Tampa, and the lovely peeps on here said that 1.5 hours was enough and no, you don't need to collect luggage, but there is sometimes additional security for the US flights. My flight is KLm from LBA to AMS but Delta to Tampa, guessing yours is too?

we've done this route (although to MCO) and we had an overnight in AMS, BUT the bags are checked through (so no collection and re-check) - they do have a US pre-check which took around 20mins

After waiting longer than normal we have bit the bullet and booked today. Not the cheapest deal but something we are happy with. LGW > TPA Aug13th return TPA > PHL > LHR Aug29th.

Booked with BA £680 ea for 4 with group S (Ford Explorer)car also included for the 16 days.
With one way direct we thought it was a good price for us.

Good luck to those still looking...

This is a good price 😀 I know what you mean about third party but I am sure it will be fine. Well done 😀
