Factory settings laptop

I have been given an old tosiba satellite laptop for my son to do his schoolwork on, and it needs completely wiping and restoring to factory settings, does anyone know how to do this? I have been on restore points on windows and it doesnt have any. I just want to wipe the whole thing and start a fresh with it.

Any help is gratefully appreciated.

assuming you can still login to it ?

right click on my computer icon on desktop - properties will tell you there <installed memory>

more RAM the better for windows 10 , I think minimum is 1GB but ideally more than that 4GB +

Most Windows laptops have the factory reset as a partition on the disk. Usually on boot you press either one of the function keys or the DEL key to access the menu and do the factory restore.

Unless you get the specific OEM Windows 7 iso image you will end up with an unlicensed PC which will start to restrict usage. Basically a world of pain for you.

Better to factory reset and then upgrade to Windows 10.

What make and model laptop is it?

4GB should be ok for windows 10

just googled, quite an old laptop but should be ok for general browsing emails etc etc

also has a dvd so you can burn a .iso to reinstall windows 10 easily enough or do it via an usb
