Mobile Pushchair questions

Hey
We are flying from the UK and want to take our own pushchair with us so have a couple of questions.
Do you check it in with your suitcases and then use a baby carrier instead?
Do you wrap your pushchair to stop it getting dirty? If so what do you use to do that?
Thanks so much 🥰

It’s been a few years since I took a pushchair so it might have changed but in the past we have either taken it to over sized baggage after check in or taken it with us to the gate where they’ve taken it off us and put it in the hold. We had a quinny that came with its own bag so we put it in that.

You can usually take it to the gate where they will take it off you. Last time we went thoigh we didn't get it back at gate. It was by the luggage carousel which was hard work as had to carry ds as he had fallen asleep just as plane was landing!

We flew with VA to MCO in September and kept the pushchair with us all the way up to boarding the plane. We had a travel bag to put it in (just to stop it getting too dirty in transport... the bag came back pretty grubby so glad we did!). We then collected at oversized baggage at MCO.

I would definitely recommend a carrier for when you get off the plane, tackling immigration with no pushchair was pretty hard work!

I would suggest that you don't take an expensive pushchair - we had a cheap one from Mothercare which has lasted from 1 year old on his first trip through (he's 3 now). We put it in a carry bag from Amazon which helps keep it together and means that it is easier to spot. You can take it to the gate in LGW and MCO (haven't done other airports) but to be honest I found a baby carrier easier to manoeuvre with a little one. Now he is older we have a trunki as well and so checked the car seat and pushchair in as early as possible.

When you get off the aircraft at both MCO and LGW the pushchairs are with baggage reclaim (MCO are off to one side and LGW are on the baggage belt). That is another reason to take a baby carrier with you!
