Are shops, restaurants & hotels taking cash?

As already mentioned, many places prefer cards but don't refuse cash. Tips in cash would definitely not be a problem.

Disney quick service places are effectively card only because you have to use mobile ordering through the App at the moment. Universal is the same.

We were thinking to loads our travel cards eg Sainsbury or PO etc in person with cash dollars if possible...

The US is much more of a credit card culture than us but they are behind in technology with tap and go cards only starting to rollout recently and our friends in NY tell us covid hasn't resulted in the same push for contactless or card only as here. As Donna says about app only ordering our friends did encounter that on some of the trips that they took in 2020, their hotel in Arizona was order in the iPad in room or the app and another hotel was online check in and open door with the app. Some of that tech will probably stick around but I can't see Americans doing anything to make it difficult for people to spend their money.

We opened a USD bank account last time we were there and I've been sending over some money every month with the good rates. I work for a US company with a UK office and I hope that we don't reach $2 because they cut back here last time when that happened and trimmed the staff but 1.50 would be lovely.

When we start to plan a holiday we start to ask for $ for presents for Christmas and birthdays so when you don’t go away that often you do end up with a lot of cash.

Haven't done mobile ordering before so will have to figure that out if we get to go.
