While Shepherds watch their flocks by night, we’ll fly to Florida, pre travel day, 24th Dec

So it’s Christmas Eve, that can only mean one thing, it’s Pre Travel Day!

As usual it starts very early for us hairdressers, 6.15 alarm!

I’m in the salon by 7.30am, Richard is with me waiting for our McDonalds breakfast which arrives about 5 mins later along with one of my girls. I’m not quite sure how a “McMuffin” translates to “bagel” but never mind, it was nice enough!

First client is 8am, one down, 9 to go! The salon has been crazy busy, one of my girls announced on Wednesday that she was starting her Materninty leave on Thursday, leaving us all her clients to accommodate on the busiest 3 days of the year! But we did it, every single one of them!

12 noon and I’m out the door!

Home and changed, I say goodbye to my 3 boys, missing them already!

We reverse the car up the back lane and load the cases from the garage, no point in advertising the fact we are going away.

Off we go! M1 and things are looking good, it’s busy but moving well. I check in for tomorrow’s flight, no problems and no SSSS for either of us, makes a refreshing change!

All of a sudden the gantry are flashing 60 mph, but not for long. Weather is gorgeous.

M25 - still moving! No traffic problems at all, I’m surprised!

We find our hotel, the Premier Inn Bath Road, here’s a tip, it’s right next door to Purple Parking. We checked in online a couple of days ago so use the machines to get our keys, no hassle at all. Half an hour free parking so we drop the cases and head off to Heathrow Long stay which is about 5 minutes away. Nice and easy and the shuttle bus arrives within 2 mins, it drops us back at Terminal 3. We get a Cappuccino and a Latte at the Darwin, £5.60.

We head over to arrivals to grab a cab back to the hotel, £9.40 plus tip.

We ask the Concierge to arrange a cab for us for the morning, it will be double price - £24😱

We are currently sitting watching Ghostbusters drinking a rather lovely glass of Prosecco!

Tea will be a BLT and a Pasta salad.

Will be an early night tonight, might even manage to get some sleep although that would be unusual for pre flight night!

I guess he will! In fairness it is for 5.30am as well so most of the U.K. will still be asleep. If I wasn’t in holiday mode I’d be cross but it is what it is sadly.
