How do you sit?
We are flying in August from Manchester to Orlando with Virgin and the seat config on the plane is 2-4-2.
We are a family of 4 with a 7 year old and 4(nearly 5) year old. Has anyone sat in two 2's or do you think a row of 4 would be better?

I suppose it depends if each child is happy to sit with one or other parent. Mine both always wanted to be near me so hubby just slept or listened to music while I dealt with both of them. We always had the row of 4 when mine were small so they were contained between us, but it feels less cramped with two rows of 2.

We are a 5 but it we were a 4 we would have the middle block of 4 I think. For one of our flights I booked for last year we chose a 2 plus 3 of a 4 in the same row. I thought leaving the end of a 4 free was better as anyone else sat there could move freely and none of us would need to squeeze past them.

We are a 4 and when the kids were younger we sat in the middle 4 adult child adult child to maximise shoulder room and to stop the kids squabbling!
We still sit that way now but thrrrs no shoulder room benefit as my 16 year old is 6ft and filling out nicely 😉

We are family of six and I didn't know whether to get 3 rows of 2 or a 4 and a 2 in a row. Such a tough decision haha

This is really a personal decision that only you can really answer based on your experience with your children.
Some families love the 2x2 idea, means a little space and can be easier to get in and out. However I have seen many families do this with nightmare consequences. 'I want to sit next to mummy, no I want to' and the mummy ends up squashed in and the dad gets 2 seats to himself. But, 4 centre seats can be just as bad if your children want an isle seat.

If its 2 4 2, as a family of 4 we would probably take the middle, but would not object to two rows of 2. On a 3 4 3, I would definitely want the middle 4 - no way would I want to keep getting up to let someone out - or them getting me up to get out!

As a family of four previous to our youngest joining us, we did the middle 4 to gaurentee both of us being able to help entertain the kids.
Now as a family of 5 we do a row of 2 and a row of 3 behind (on ba's 3-4-3) that way the kids can talk through the crack in the chair to us/each other if they wanted and both parents are near. But when we did 3 in window and 2 in the middle section to try and all be on the same row, we found out that not all rows are in a line, and the 2 in the middle bit were actually in front to the side of us by a row (very strange as the row numbers matched 🤔. Hoping our next flight is a 3-4-3 configuration 😊🤞. |

I believe its 3-3-3 (on Boing 777 anyway). We are a family of 4 (kids 6/9), we haven't pre-booked any seating but i would guess i would sit with both kids on a 3 row, and DH will be next to us on the aisle seat (how relaxing for him ) x
