Day trips from Daytona

Hi
I am staying in Daytona beach next week for an event .
A few day trips out would be nice though - any ideas for nature- historic places ? Any state parks ?

Blue Springs State Park and St Augustines are each about 1hr away.

The nearest state park is Tomoka State Park. There is a scenic route called the Loop(google for directions) which passes the main park entrance.

Rockefellers house in Ormond Beach is open with commentaries provided by local volunteers.

There is a museum on Beach Street which includes video presentations of Florida history. These are very enlightening about the persecution of local Indians.

The coast road from Daytona to St Augustine is one of the best stretches of the Florida coastline.

Daytona Beach has a very good website where you might pick up all sorts of ideas.
